London: Planning London Datahub (Greater London Authority)
London rows come from the Planning London Datahub, run by the Greater London Authority and fed by London's local planning authorities. We use its public guest API. Fields used: council, reference, decision and dates, description, site address, proposed residential units, floorspace, estimated cost band and lead developer company.
We are confirming the reuse licence with the GLA. Attribution: Greater London Authority, Planning London Datahub.
South East and Greater Manchester: UK PlanIt
These rows come from UK PlanIt, built by Andrew Speakman, which compiles applications from local planning authority registers. We access it at a low, rate-limited volume once a week. Data originates from each council's register; follow the council link on each row for the authoritative record.
What we do to the data
- Classify each application into one of: new major submission, approval of 5+ homes, or approved commercial scheme.
- Exclude condition discharges, non-material amendments, screening and scoping opinions and lawful development certificates.
- Keep company names only. Anything that looks like a personal name, phone number or email address is removed.
- Use structured unit counts where the source provides them; otherwise we parse the description and mark the figure with *.
Limitations
Coverage outside London depends on which councils PlanIt can read, so counts are a minimum. Councils sometimes publish late or correct records afterwards. The sheets are information, not advice; verify against the council register before acting.
Contains public sector information. Council records remain the authoritative source.
